Film by Yorkshire Television. Behind the scenes at the Spalding Tulip Parade (held the same day as the Cup Final, hence the title.) Subject matter is very similar to No 280, though more emphasis is placed on the fact that the work extends over the whole year, and there is rather less coverage of the actual floats.

Filmed at various farms on the Walmsgate Estate. Pheasant catcher, laying pens; collection of eggs, and incubation under broody domestic hens; rearing field, gradual release into woods; a Shoot in progress. Of archival interest, as showing methods no longer in use. The keeper and his son feature in many scenes. The pheasant material is interspersed with other items, e.g. the rearing of ducks, the local rabbit-catcher with tame fox, some harvest scenes, and the hand shearing of sheep.

294 EAST COAST FLOOD DAMAGE

Extensive, often dramatic, coverage of the damage (flood water, residual sand, wrecked buildings and vehicles, the Acre Gap in the sea defences) and of work in progress on repairs, with pile drivers, lorries bringing hardcore, etc. The method of closing the gap by building front and back walls, then filling in between them, is clearly seen.

A delightful and detailed picture of daily activities both indoors and out. Children of all ages from 6 to 10 are seen at work in their classrooms, playing in the band, and having school dinner. Outside, in the yard and on the field, they play, jump, climb, turn somersaults. A number of the teachers appear briefly. A lively film, full of variety and happy bustle, with the camera often right in amongst the children.

All the usual stalls, fancy dress, dog show, the South Wold hounds, clay pigeon shooting, and - in the pool - a demonstration by Brenda Fisher, Grimsby's record-breaking Channel swimmer. Lively, attractive material, with many incidental points of interest, such as dress fashions, and patrons arriving by bicycle rather than by car.

Men of Q Battery (Louth), 529 Light Anti-Aircraft and Searchlight Regiment, are seen firing out to sea at Saltfleet; providing trackside wireless communications at Cadwell motorcycle races; and at training camp near Stiffkey, with further footage at the nearby Langham airfield.

Harry Withers, leading carilloneur, plays a twelve-bell chime installed beside the swimming pool at Butlins Amusement Park for Carnival Week, during which he gave a number of recitals. He is seen hammering away at the keys, and the bells in their supporting framework are also shown.
