The working of the mill is shown in detail, with good views of the mechanism in operation, though the demonstrator – a woman in a pant suit – seems rather out of keeping. A party of Primary School children visit the mill and are present in several scenes; later we see the project work they did as a follow-up.

Land reclamation being carried out by lads at North Sea Camp. The film includes a few scenes of daily life with the camp itself, and a number of stills showing the setting up of this young offenders' institution in the 1930s.

Further material from the S.T.Belton farms, of interest for study but very inexpertly shot. Main items featured include: daffodils, working with pigs and sheep, post-hole digging, crop spraying, harvesting, greenhouses, packing flowers, attempts to manoeuvre a bulldozer onto a trailer, and scenes at a shoot.

Farm work round the year at various farms in the Mablethorpe and Skegness area, owned by J.K. Measures. Filmed by an agricultural worker. The thatching sequence is of particular interest.

The New Zealand High Commissioner, The Rt Hon W.J.Jordan, attends a special meeting held at Stamford School to mark the twinning of Stamford with Masterton (NZ). Some street scenes, then speeches made in the hall by the Mayor, Coun. Jeeves, and the High Commissioner.
(In the post-war period, a desire to emphasize links with the Dominions led to many such twinnings. Compare No 286.)

A 13th Century pottery kiln discovered at Stamford School during building work is being excavated by Gavin Simpson of Welland Valley Research Committee. Typical archaeological scenes, with onlookers, various finds, etc.

479 P.E. IN THE JUNIOR SCHOOL

An instructional film for teachers, produced by the Education Dept of Holland County Council, and filmed outdoors at the Parish Church Day School, Spalding. 11 year old girls skilfully demonstrate the use of quite complex apparatus, most of which has been improvised or built locally. Somewhat repetitive, but full of social interest.

Companion film to the above, but featuring 6 year old boys and girls, mainly using small items such as balls, hoops, skipping ropes and bean bags.
