Making bricks by hand. Clay is dug from the ground and fed into the pug mill, which extrudes it in rectangular blocks; these are cut up into individual bricks, which are dried and then baked in the kiln.

Severe winter conditions around Spalding, including Surfleet Golf Course and Cowbit Wash. Extensive flooding follows the thaw; houses at Lock's Mill are seen with water at windowsill level, and in town, with the River Welland starting to overflow, sandbags are placed along the banks. Huge ice floes are forced up onto the road at Cowbit, and are manoeuvred under Little London bridge by men with poles.

Telerecording of Confirmation in Spalding Parish Church by the Bishop of Lincoln, the Rt Rev Kenneth Riches. It was the first such service to be televised nationwide, and, thanks to the enthusiastic response to its sensitive handling of the subject matter, it proved to be the forerunner of many subsequent religious broadcasts. Filmed inserts show Baptism, Sunday School, and Confirmation classes in progress. Of great local interest to the participants and those who knew them, this film also provides a startling reminder of how a live outside broadcast was presented a generation ago.

The film is narrated by the vicar, the late Canon Graham Jakeman.
